We're Wavvy Hands. Come see us play a show or listen to our music. Thanks!

Tour Blog - Day 1: Mt. Pleasant, MI to Oxford, OH - Kofenya Coffee
381 miles traveled

(photo Seajay at Kofenya)

Tonight we played at a cool little coffee joint in downtown Oxford, OH called Kofenya with Mt Pleasant transplant Seajay (CJ from Bloomill).

About 30 people enjoyed our set, which was a bit unusual tonight due to using a small guitar amp for vocals because the venue’s PA wasn’t working. So we played a quieter, more “chill” version of the set we played at Rubbles for the kickoff show.

People seemed generally into our music, or they were at least polite enough to be attentive even if they weren’t interested. We sold a CD to some gals that were there already when we arrived and made a few tips as well.

Onward to Greensboro, NC already. As I write this, we are at a rest stop near the Ohio/West Virginia border taking a break from the 8.5 hour trek from Oxford to Greensboro. More driving in the morning. Good night.

Oxford, OH TONIGHT.

We are playing at Kofenya Coffeehouse in downtown Oxford, Ohio tonight. Currently Andrew and I are sitting at the King Library at Miami University, one of the nations oldest colleges. All of the buildings are pretty damn cool looking.

We were told they got an ice storm in this area last night, so we left Mt. Pleasant very early this morning to make sure we arrived on time, only to find sunny skies and dry roads pretty much all of the way here. It got a little shaky just before we got to Oxford, but the main roads are all fine.

Looking forward to playing with our pal Seajay tonight at the show. Music will start around 9pm and will run to 11pm. It’s a free show. Come say hi.

we will email you a brand new track called “Stethoscope” that we just finished last night and have not yet even played live. We’ll be playing it on Thursday night and throughout the tour, but you can get an exclusive sneak peak by paying even just $1 for our EP on our Bandcamp.

Wavvy Hands year end review

Well, we formed as a band in August, played our first show 3 weeks later on August 25th and have played 20 shows total thus far. It’s been a whirlwind of ups and downs for sure, but mostly it’s been “ups.”

As some of you may already know, Nadia will no longer be playing with us. The show this Saturday will be her last. For now, anyway. We won’t rule out her playing every now and then, but she will no longer be a full member of the band due to multiple circumstances, most notably a personal decision to cut back as she also works a full time job, so personal time was basically non-existent between the job and Wavvy Hands for her.

We’ve been blessed by having our friend Jon Miller fill in for us already on one show and he will fill in when he can. Andrew and I may be playing some shows as a two-piece as well until we find a permanent replacement. A few more friends of Wavvy Hands have offered their services on an interim basis whenever they can, and we’re happy to accept.

Our debut EP “A Million Eyes” is finally finished and will be getting duplicated next week. You can preview it on our music page or on Facebook right now and pre-order it on our Bandcamp page. Every pre-order/purchase of the EP will help us with our extensive touring schedule for 2012, which kicks off next weekend with a mini-tour of Chicago, Milwaukee and Lansing. Andrew and I both have never been to Milwaukee or the state of Wisconsin in general, so it will be a fun adventure.

Speaking of touring, we’re making 9 stops in 10 days January 19-28 in Michigan (Mt. Pleasant, Ann Arbor, Flint), Ohio (Oxford), North Carolina (Greensboro & Asheville), Tennessee (Johnson City), Kentucky (Louisville) and Indiana (South Bend). Full details are on our “shows” page.

There are a lot of big plans in the works for 2012, including our 2nd EP, which will be coming out in April, more touring, some shows with some big national acts (like the one on February 21st at the Pike Room with Slow Club and Air Waves) and some festivals as well. We’ll be hitting new cities in addition to returning to towns that have already been so gracious to us like Marquette, Saginaw, Grand Rapids, Houghton, South Bend, Lansing and of course our hometown of Mt. Pleasant.

To those who have already came out to a show, we really appreciate it. Keep showing your faces and we’ll keep making music for your ears. Tell your friends about us too. Word of mouth will always be the strongest form of promotion. To those who haven’t yet seen us play: what are you waiting for? Come see us at one of our shows soon, or at least check out our tunes.

Cheers. Have a safe and happy new year!
